Lighting Designer / Doctor of Philosophy in Health and Environmental Sciences

We have reached the 37th term since establishing our lighting design office. With gratitude and passion in our hearts, we will continue striving toward the coming 40th term. Our designs do not seek to be dazzling, grand blooms, but rather embody the quiet brilliance and steadfast perseverance of a wildflower blooming in the fields. I find poetry in every fleeting moment of daily life, believing that a pure and uncluttered existence, free from excess, radiates the true brilliance of life—just like a wildflower blooming in quiet solitude. By cherishing each day, pursuing refined beauty without waste, and embracing the diverse essence of Asian cultures, we create warm, inviting spaces. Together with our companions who walk this path alongside us, we will weave light into the future, wishing for happiness to shine upon all.

Profile

Founded Miki Matsushita Lighting Design Co., Ltd. 1989.
Created "Lighting Environments" including lighting designs for nationally recognized important cultural assets, formulation of lighting guidelines for national parks and towns, and a wide range of projects at educational, cultural, medical, transportation facilities and commercial establishments in Japan. She has undertaken various projects in countries within a 4000 km range of Fukuoka, such as Thailand, Korea, China and Taiwan since 1993. She is also active with working as an advisor, council member, and university lecturer of Lighting Design.

“Light Asia(NPO)” works to foster students, through enhancing their general understanding of lighting workshops. In order to achieve this goal, invited international designers and students cooperate to create lighting designs together. Until now, these programs have been held in various countries, Japan, Korea, China, and Thailand.
